Recent months have witnessed an upsurge in international interest in the links between Yemen and Somalia, with fears raised over increased al-Qaeda cooperation and the flourishing regional trade in arms, human trafficking, and fuel smuggling. This event marks the publication of the Chatham House briefing paper Yemen and Somalia: Terrorism, Shadow Networks and the Limitations of State Building. The authors will discuss the challenges faced by the two countries, as well as analyzing the current patterns of Western engagement.

This briefing paper and event form part of Chatham House's Yemen Forum.

The forthcoming briefing paper will be available to download on the Chatham House website.
